Recession and payday loans

Emergency cash

Loan against pay

The practice of using payday loans has soared during the recession. Payday loans are a very expensive way of borrowing money over a short period of time, as it is named payday loan you are wise to pay the loan of with your next pay day cheque as it was intended as a loan against your pay for that month.

Some companies who offer payday loans will charge up to %30 on the borrowed figure, ouch!. That is for every £100 borrowed you pay back £130. The least you can expect to pay is around %25, which is £25.00 per every £100 borrowed.

Gordon Brown seeks EU plan to beat recession

Gordon Brown has called for greater European co-operation to help drag the region out of recession. He was writing in the Financial Times ahead of next week's European elections.

The PM called for a more "focused Europe-wide strategy for growth," including more and quicker central bank lending and co-ordinated action to help the continent's ailing car industries.

He said the decline of what is the UK's biggest export market - comprising 60% of overseas sales - was the country's "biggest anti-recession challenge". Latest official estimates have forecast a 4% decline in output across the EU this year.

Mr Brown said he has asked the European Investment Bank to increase its business and infrastructure lending by 50 billion euro (£44bn) and to accelerate the lending process.

He also said EU states needed to work closer together to find sustainable solutions for the car industry, and to have a "clear determination" to avoid long-term unemployment.

He said: "The next stage in the recovery from global recession must be a strengthened European growth strategy."

The PM said he has spoken to European Commission president, Manuel Barroso, about setting an "ambitious" EU target for apprenticeships.

"In the UK, we have guaranteed every young person under the age of 18 a place in education, training or a job," Mr Brown said. "But we need to do more across Europe."

He added: "With a strong commitment to work with our European partners to confront these economic challenges, we can lay the groundwork for a European recovery."

BBC

Some recession statistics

We have been closley monitoring our server stats to see what kind of visitors uk recession website has been recieving. we are suprised to see most visitors are from corporate establishments, universities, tv networks, banks and even the lord mayor of london`s establishment.
Who would have thought the BBC would be searching the internet for recession information? The bbc search term was: "1990s recession who suffered"

Univestities

Universities

By far, the most visitors to want recession information come from universities. We have been wondering are these visits from tutors or students?

TUC

TRADE UNION CONGRESS

The trade union congress paid us a visit, they were looking for: "recession 1990s recovery" Presumably trying to gauge the current situation and comparing it to the 1990 recession.

Sky advertising

Sky tv adverts

The brief visit to uk recession website was a direct request for our Classified ads page We would gladly let british sky broadcasting ltd have an advertising slot.

Royal bank of scotland

Royal bank of scotland

The rbs has left us amazed with the search term "when did the 2009 UK recession start" We actually had to double check  that was the correct search term used, but we can confirm it is correct. Personally i would have thought it was common knowledge in the banking industry.

Laing

A well known construction company

The recession has affected the construction industry in the uk to an extent that encourages construction firms to search for information on previous recessions. Laing Orourke Plc recently paid us a visit asking: "construction recession 1990"

We find these stats fascinating and we will be enabling a statistic viewer for the public soon.

Car scrappage scheme

Cash for scrap cars

Car scrappage chaos

The scheme that promises "cash for scrap cars" has hit problems.

The cash for scrap scheme that was intended to help the ailing uk car industry has descended into farce, it was claimed yesterday.

Thousands of motorists may not recieve the car they were promised on time because of a government "blunder with paperwork.

The problem which revolves around VAT, affects all 39 car makers in the scheme.

The scheme was promising to give £2000 to anyone who owned a car over 10 years old, could claim the £2000 as a discount on a new car.

A senior motor industry source said problems arose when hm revenue and customs started raising issues about VAT.

Last night, however, a spokesman for the dept for business denied there was a problem and said the scheme would go ahead as planned.

The current recession was today said to be the worst uk recession since 1945.
